A Variety of Courses
We offer many different courses designed to meet your needs and schedule. Our fleet includes basic trainers and advanced aircraft. Air America offers approximate pricing for the different FAA certificates and ratings. These prices are based on the minimum training to meet the FAA requirements but the actual cost will depend on individual student proficiency. Keep in mind that each student is unique and may or may not require more instruction. The Lowest Training Costs
Air America course prices are based on an hourly rental rate which includes the cost of fuel. Unlike most schools, we do not charge any additional fees or surcharges. It should also be noted that flight training and time-building are exempt from the 6.5% Florida sales tax (this tax applies to rental only). At Air America you simply pay as you train and we do not require you pay for your training in advance. The cost of flight and ground instruction varies from instructor to instructor based on their individual experience. Newer instructors charge $28.00/hour and our most experienced instructors charge up to $48.00/hour depending on the type of instruction given.
Quality Training
Air America is proud to be the designated Cessna Pilot Center (CPC) of the Daytona Beach area. Cessna has developed an excellent online ground school for the Private Pilot and Instrument Rating. Other Costs To Plan For
Our course prices do not include any FAA medical or FAA testing fees. FAA medicals (approx. $100.00 each) are paid directly to the FAA AME (we recommend Dr. Robert Kurrle). FAA written exams (approx. $100.00 each) and the FAA practical tests (approx. $400.00 each) which are paid directly to the examiner at the time of the test. Our prices also do not include the costs of supplies (maps, charts, books, headsets etc).
